FAQs:   What method of Pilates is taught in these group classes?  The Core Connection uses the Stott™ method of Pilates. It is a contemporary approach to the original work of Joseph Pilates. It was developed with input from Sports Medicine and Exercise Science professionals. It is anatomically based, utilizes modern exercise principles and provides safe, effective modifications for participants.

What does a group class consist of?  A group class consists of a series of exercises done lying on the floor, sitting, standing and in weight bearing positions. Classes are progressive and build upon what was learned in the previous lesson. Small pieces of equipment (fitness circles, foam rollers, bands, balls) are used to assist with proper form or to add more challenge to the exercises.

How does the instructor interact with the class? The instructor will explain how and why each exercise is performed and will monitor the class to ensure each exercise is being executed correctly. She will make individualized modifications to ensure the exercises are appropriate for each individual. Class sizes are limited to ensure quality instruction.

What should I wear and bring to class? Wear comfortable clothes, preferably form fitting so that the instructor can see the spine and pelvis to ensure the work is being performed correctly. Bare feet or socks are appropriate. Bring a mat and small towel.

Why would I choose a private lesson? Private lessons are scheduled by appointment only. They are for individuals with any health concerns or injuries, or clients wanting an individualized program to suit postural issues or sports specific training. Private lessons move at your own pace, and the work is modified for your needs.
