Yoga is a union between Mind, Body and Spirit. In our classes, we combine breath with movement to create a body that is flexible and a mind that is calm and connected to the present. You will perform a series of poses that will help alleviate stress and tightness and improve overall flexibility. In order to accommodate varying levels of abilities, we offer the following:
Power Flow Yoga is an energetic, vigorous practice that blends sweat, strength and flexibility in a class that thoroughly tones the body and disciplines the mind. A series of yoga postures are done in sync with the breath, flowing from one movement into the next. The results include profoundly enhanced physical strength and endurance, improved flexibility and a calm and focused mind.
This class is for all levels and teaches the Vinyasa Flow by bringing participants into poses and specifically explaining body movement, alignment and the benefit of each pose. The slightly heated (75 degrees) environment allows the students to acclimate to the temperature so that they understand why the warmth is very beneficial. Come with an open mind, ready to learn. Questions are welcome! You will learn the poses thoroughly and safely in a slightly less rigorous format.
Flow Class: A heated (85 degrees) Vinyasa style practice. The yoga postures are dynamically connected to increase the heart rate or "inner fire" leading to a cadiovascular and strengthening class. Focus is on the core as well as the breath to keep you connected throughout the practice. The heated room increases muscle flexibility as well as detoxification.
Yoga for Athletes is based on Ashtanga, a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. The Primary series -- while a vigorous practice -- can be modified and is appropriate for beginners of all abilities.
Where you don’t have to be big and don’t have to be a guy and the only thing that needs to be open and flexible is the mind. People ask "What is yoga?" and our reply is "Who are we to say what yoga is?" We do tell them that yoga is defined as the union between body, mind and soul. We also tell them that to us, yoga is the union of breath and movement in concert together in a slow and gentle dance. Once we reach that, the rest will follow. Try it...you may like it. Namaste
Teen Yoga teaches focus, breath, alignment and posture. This beginner level class will move through a flow of poses which will strengthen and stretch your body while introducing breath to focus the mind. This yoga can burn calories and improve the mind/body connection, resulting in increased body awareness and self-confidence.
Yoga is a great way to reduce stress, improve flexibility and increase body awareness. Yoga for beginners will introduce a new yoga student to the asanas (postures) we use in class. Yogic breathing (pranyama) will be introduced and built upon during each session. Classes will cover seated and standing postures, balancing, gentle backbends and forward bends, and stretching. Yoga postures and breath improve insomnia, reduce stress, help digestion, and reduce back and joint pain. Class topics will layer with each session for six weeks. Yoga mats are available at the studio along with any props you will need.
This one-hour session focuses on flexibility, stress-relief and relaxation. The asanas (postures) are done in a passive way, bringing the body and mind into a state of deep relaxation. This practice can relax and quiet the mind when going through stressful periods and times of illness or injury. It can also create balance in those who have a vigorous daily practice. Renew and Restore Yoga releases stress in the physical body and nervous system, and helps to bring the organs and systems of the body back to balance. It heals the body and makes you feel wonderful! Beginners are welcome.
